Sephora Haul: 12.22.18

Hey Beauty Belles! Its been a minute since my introduction post, I was facing a lot of personal issues in the last few weeks but I’m back!

This will be the first of my #Haul posts, I have had several in the last few weeks (I call it stress shopping 😉 ) but I wanted to showcase this one in particular because for once it is a Sephora Haul.

From what I have gathered in the Beauty Community you are either an Ulta person or a Sephora person. I am full-heartedly an Ulta person; a majority of my purchases are there, as of today I am just a little over $300 away from reaching their diamond rewards level, and I love that it is a lot easier to redeem points on Ulta.

My next post will be about comparing the two rewards program so stay tuned for that!

I may be more in favor of Ulta, but Sephora was pushing their extra 20% off sale items promotion for rewards program members hard and I just could not refuse!

  1. Philosophy Renewed Hope in A Jar Moisturizer: I was always a drugstore moisturizer junkie, my go-to was the equate knockoff of the Clean and Clear dual action moisturizer for as long as I can remember. Then I purchased this on a whim during Ulta’s 20 Days of Beauty (regular price $39, on sale for $19.50) event and fell in love. It’s super lightweight and creamy, my face feels so refreshed every time I apply it. This week (12.21.18 – 12.27.18) it was part of Sephora’s Weekly Wow Deal, bringing it from $39 to $23.4
    1. $23.40 – Extra 20% off = $18.73 (Compare at $39)
  2. Urban Decay – Perversion 24/7 Pencil Set: I line my eyes every day, I feel naked whenever I’m not wearing eyeliner especially in my waterline. The only eyeliner that stays in place all day is Urban Decay’s 24/7 line and I have been swearing by it since High School. My personal favorite is the shade Stag since I have coffee-colored eyes but Perversion is a close second. It’s accompanying mascara I also prefer even over the iconic Better Than Sex. So when I was just scrolling through Sephora’s sale page and saw Urban Decay’s holiday sets on sale I was shook. I snagged two full sized products for $14
    1. $14 – Extra 20% off = 11.20 (Compare at $29 with $45 value)
  3. Sephora Collection – Polishing Mask: I have never tried this product, I was just scrolling through the sale page for some items to bump me up to the $50 free shipping threshold when I stumbled upon this. The reviews say its great and minimizes pores but I’ll have to wait to find out.
    1. $11 – Extra 20% off = $8.80 (Compare at $20)
  4. Samples – Sephora exfoliating cleansing cream in Charcoal and Dior Sauvage perfume: Sephora recently changed their free three samples with a purchase to two so I’m still a little salty about that but decided on these three. The other options were liquid foundation samples which I don’t use.
    1. Free
  5. STILA – 3D Glitter & Glow mini liquid eyeshadow set: I was never a fan of STILA simply because whenever I swatched their lippies in my local TJ Maxx they were not the greatest. However, TJ Maxx never has their liquid eyeshadows which happen to be my current obsession. They make my eyes pop and stay on all day, so naturally, I had to grab this set that was on sale for $17
    1. $17.00 – Extra 20% off = $13.60 (Compare at $25 with $36 claimed value)

My total came out to $52.33, just enough to get me free shipping but not too much where I feel like my bank account is taking too much of a hit! An honorable mention goes out to…

Tarte – Life of The Party Clay Brush Palette & Clutch:

I like their Amazonian Clay Blush, its a staple in my travel makeup bag however reading the reviews on this product ultimately made it a no go. I went with the STILA eyeshadows instead

Hey Beauty Belles, Welcome!

My name is Meagan and I like to consider myself an amateur of all things beauty.

In college I started wearing just the basics; mascara, eyeliner, and maybe eyeshadow if I was feeling saucy. Everything was a drugstore brand because

  1. I couldn’t afford prestige brands
  2.  I didn’t really know how to apply makeup properly so I didn’t want to spend all this money and look like a dumbass with an Anastasia highlighter on my chin or something

I was never a fan of makeup, in fact, I only started consistently wearing it about a year ago. I grew up with a strict mother, she was extremely adamant of me not wearing makeup or even tweezing my eyebrows until I was fourteen and even then she would only permit eyeliner. Not even mascara.

It wasn’t until this past summer when I got a fairly good paying country club job and watched a s%$t ton of makeup tutorials by the greats (Jeffree , James, e.g)  that I started feeling a lot more comfortable buying ‘luxury brands’. Now I’m never looking back.

But the main purpose of this vlog is not to flex on everyone my makeup collection, I’m starting this because…

  1. I’m still not pretty enough to go on YouTube
  2. My friends all think I am spending thousands of dollars on makeup.

Granted I am spending money (probably more than a waitress should) but to tell you the truth I rarely pay full price for an item. For the most part I hunt down deals and shop smart so I am getting the most bang for my buck.

So that is where this blog comes in. I want to show that a normal person who doesn’t get PR packages or paid by the Insta post can look beautiful too. I will be posting makeup hauls, unbelievable sales, my thoughts on products to determine if they’re really worth it, my thoughts on going ons in the makeup and beauty community, and just to document my beauty journey. Like I said, I used to be just a one coat of mascara type of girl. Now being able to do my own makeup properly has given me so much confidence and strength, I want everyone to experience that. Plus, all of my friends and family aren’t into makeup at all so I need somewhere to gush.

IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM AM I CALLING MYSELF AN EXPERT OR THAT YOU SHOULD FOLLOW ANY MAKEUP TECHNIQUE I DO. Like I said, I am a beginner. We are all learning together here!

Before we get into it, here is a little about me. Again, my name is Meagan and I am a recent college grad currently working as a waitress in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina until something more permanent comes up in my field. I’m 22, with a loving boyfriend, a native New Yorker total dog mom, heavy coffee drinker, huge makeup & pop culture junkee, and an avid lover of the Florida Manatee. I can’t wait to go on this journey with you Beauty Belles!Â
